Opalina Vetrichelvan, 14, is currently in eighth grade in Hyde Park Middle School and will be going to Clark High School in the 2016-17 school year. She has been playing violin since she was six years old. She played in the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra for the past four years. She also has been in Honor Orchestra for the last two years and is looking forward to trying out next year. Under the instruction of Ms. Kimberly Johnson, Opalina has learned many new things musically, and wishes to continue doing so in high school. She has been to Salt Lake for the ASTA competition- where Hyde Park won first place. One of her goals in high school is to be a part of the orchestra at Clark that gets to perform in Carnegie Hall. Along with her passion for violin, Opalina is also very involved with different extracurriculars and competitions, like the Science Olympiad club and the Dupont Essay Challenge. She values service and was the secretary of NJHS at her school. Opalina wishes to keep participating in new clubs that fit her interests while still improving and playing violin.
