MatthewMatthew Wright was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. His introduction to music was at the age of six when he began piano lessons. Matthew attended the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts for high school where he was awarded the position of 1 st chair trumpet in the V3-Wind Ensemble for three years (Sophomore, Junior, Senior), as well as being awarded Principal Trumpet in the Philharmonic Orchestra for his Junior and Senior years after having played 2 nd trumpet in the Philharmonic Orchestra for his Sophomore year. Matthew was awarded the 1 st chair trumpet position in the V2-Wind Symphony as an incoming Freshman and as a result was named 2 nd Trumpet for the Symphony Orchestra his Freshman year. Matthew has achieved numerous honors in high school. He won the Principal Trumpet position for the Nevada Allstate Honor Orchestra three years in a row – Sophomore, Junior, Senior; the Las Vegas

Academy Brass Quintet won a command performance for the NMEA Allstate Festival in April 2016; and, he was an LVA Concerto Competition winner, performing the 1 st Mvmt of the Haydn Trumpet Concerto on Eb Trumpet under the direction of Karl Reinarz on May 17, 2016. Additionally, Matthew has played trumpet with the Las Vegas Youth Orchestras since 7 th grade and was Principal Trumpet in the LVYO Philharmonic Orchestra his Junior and Senior years, after having been 2 nd Trumpet his Freshman and Sophomore years. In December of 2015, Matthew received Runner-Up/ 2 nd Place in the LVYO Concerto Competition. As a result, he was a featured soloist on the May 14, 2016 LVYO concert, playing the 1 st Mvmt of the Haydn Trumpet Concerto in Eb. In October of 2015, Matthew participated in the NAfME Honor Ensembles event which took place in Nashville, TN and by audition was awarded 2 nd Trumpet in the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jung Ho.
