Leonardo Mendizabal is currently a freshman at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Leonardo (Leo) Mendizabal graduated from Valley High School and from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP). Leo has been involved in many ensembles at his school and in his community. Leo was member of the Las Vegas Youth Orchestras (LVYO) for three years and served as principal chair for the LVYO Youth Symphony and Philharmonic. Leo has also been a member of the UNLV community band for two years and participated in the Nevada All- State Honor Band (2016). Leo was also able to travel with the Nevada Thespians to Nebraska to perform in the musical production of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. At Valley High School, Leo has been an active member of the music department for all four years. Leo served as a section leader and drum major of the marching band for three of the four years he participated. He served as principal chair of his advanced band for all four years. Leo also assisted in creating the Valley High School Symphonic Orchestra and participated in the chamber orchestra for three years. Now a freshman in college, Leo is currently participating in the Las Vegas Young Artists Orchestra (LVYAO) for the first time and is a member of the Las Vegas Desert Winds, a contemporary wind ensemble. Leo is currently majoring in biology with a minor in music.
