Joshua Riel currently attends the Las Vegas Academy as a Senior and is majoring in Orchestra. He has been playing the double bass for 6 years and is the Principal double bass for the Las Vegas Academy Philharmonic. Joshua is currently studying with Paul Firak (Principal double bass of the Las Vegas Philharmonic). He has participated in the CCSD Honor/All-State orchestras and was selected to be the Principal double bass of the 2015 and 2016 All-State Orchestra. He has also won the 2016 Solo and Ensemble for the Low Strings category and performed his concerto movement at the All-State Command Performance. Joshua competed in the 2015 Young Artists Concerto Competition for the Las Vegas Philharmonic and was selected as one of the winners. He was invited to perform is concerto movement for the Las Vegas Philharmonic Youth Concert Series at the Smith Center. In May of 2015 Joshua was invited as a substitute double bass player for the Las Vegas Philharmonic Pop Concert. On his free time, he enjoys composing music and spending time with his family.
