Musicians from all over Southern Nevada compete for scholarships and cash prizes in the annual Susan D. Barton Music Competition.
The LVYAO is proud to honor Ms. Susan D. Barton through the establishment of an annual music competition in her name. Ms. Barton is recognized for being one of Southern Nevada’s most giving teachers. Throughout the years she’s sponsored many students through lessons, summer programs, and college studies. Moreover, she inspired many young musicians including LVYAO Founder & Music Director, Yunior Lopez.
The 2018 Susan D. Barton Music Competition is sponsored in part by the Clark County Library District, Yunior Lopez, and Mara Lieberman.

Susan Barton is recognized for being one of Southern Nevada’s most giving teachers. Throughout the years she’s sponsored many students through private
lessons, summer programs, and college studies. Moreover, she inspired many young musicians including LVYAO Founder & Music Director, Yunior Lopez. Many of her former students have attended some of the most prestigious music schools in the world including the Juilliard School, the Royal Conservatory in Canada, the Royal College of Music in London, North Carolina School of the Arts, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, to name a few.
