The Dr. Shirley Linzy Young Artists Orchestra of Las Vegas | Yunior Lopez, Founder

The YAO Guitar Kids Program is a beginning music program for kids ages 8-14 (younger students may be eligible). The program is designed for beginning students who want to learn to play the acoustic guitar. Students learn classical guitar technique, music reading, theory, performance skills and ensemble playing in weekly group classes, through which they develop their self-discipline, self-esteem and ability to work as a team. These are attributes that help them realize success throughout their lives. Our highly experienced teachers work to help students develop a joy and love of music through string education and performance. This program is a wonderful opportunity for children interested in music to begin playing the guitar in a supportive music environment. Parents are strongly urged to support and encourage the students in daily practice. Based on the financial commitment and the need for program consistency, it is important for all students to commit to an entire school year of classes.

All students in the Las Vegas area are encouraged to register. Program space is limited to 40 participants, and space will be filled at a first-come-first-serve basis. Students who miss the cut off will be placed on a wait list. Students may enroll in a class with complete beginners or students with 1 year or less experience.

All program participants are required to have their own classical, nylon-string guitar and foot stool. All students should have an instrument ready for the first day of classes. Please note that electric and steel string guitars will not work for this class.
