The Dr. Shirley Linzy Young Artists Orchestra of Las Vegas | Yunior Lopez, Founder

The YAO Group Lessons program offers private group lessons to students ages 11-17 who play violin, viola, cello, or double bass. The program is designed to provide students with high quality instruction in a group setting. Students will receive weekly group lessons from members of our faculty, participate in monthly playing tests, and engage with like-minded students in a supportive music environment. The program is a supplement to in-school instruction, and will allow students to fast track their progress by focusing on proper technique, posture, and performance practices. Based on the financial commitment and the need for program consistency, it is important for all students to commit to an entire school year of classes from September to May.

All students in the Las Vegas area are encouraged to register. Program space is limited to 15 violins, 15, violas, 15 cello, and 15 double bass participants, and space will be filled at a first-come-first-serve basis. Students who miss the cut off will be placed on a wait list.

Registration Deadline: September 3, 2023 (late applications accepted until all spots are filled)
Program Start/End Dates: September 14, 2023 – May 16, 2024 (Weekly)
Weekly Rehearsal Day/Time: Thursday’s 3:30 – 4:30 PM
Location: Ed. W. Clark High School

Performances: December 2023 / May 2024 (Dates TBA)

The tuition for the Group Lessons program is $50/month (avg. 4 classes/month). Parents have the ability to pay in full, by semester, or sign-up for monthly installments via auto or post-dated checks. Please send us an email if you have any payment processing questions. Tuition payments are non-refundable.

A limited number of tuition scholarships are available to students who demonstrate significant financial need. Please request scholarship/financial-aid during your registration process.

Based on the financial commitment and the need for program consistency, it is important for all students to commit to an entire school year of classes. Withdrawal requests must be made in writing via email or mail. There is a $75 early withdraw fee for students on a monthly payment plan subscription.

The YAO does not provide instrument rentals or sales. Students are advised to use instruments loaned from their respective schools or rent from a local music store. We have great partnerships in place with local music stores who provide our students with incredible sales and rentals for as little as $15/month (includes insurance). Most importantly, our partners will help measure each student so they find an instrument that fits their needs. We highly advise against buying instruments online as instruments may be too big or small for the student.

Please visit our Music Store partners to inquire about options.

If you have any questions about instrument rentals, purchases, and sizing, then please send us an email at yaorchestra@gmail.com
