The only tuition-free & premier youth orchestra program in Las Vegas for students and young professionals ages 8-22. Auditions are open for all strings, winds, brass, and percussion instrumentalists.

*Please send us an email to confirm available spots before submitting an application.

*The filling of positions will commence after the initial application deadline in June. A final deadline is available for any remaining positions in the Academy and/or Symphony Orchestra. YAO will continue to accept auditions for any vacant spots. Instruments that remain unfilled will be posted on this page by June 20, 2026. Due to the large turnout in auditions, students are advised to apply by the June application deadline.

*Only video auditions are accepted unless percussionists request a live audition if they do not have access to specific instruments.

You can also explore the Orchestra Program page to view past performances from each ensemble, providing insight into their skill level and artistry.

*At this time live auditions will only be granted for percussion students who request them. All other instruments should choose video audition. If you need to request a live audition for a specific reason, then please send us an email.

Students must play an excerpt of a solo of their choice (between 1-2 minutes) and the required excerpts for their instrument. Students should stand 5-6 feet away from the camera. Cell phone video recordings are acceptable. Video auditions must contain an introduction with student name and why they want to join the YAO. YouTube links are preferred

The Dr. Shirley Linzy Young Artists Orchestra of Las Vegas is the only tuition-free and premier youth orchestra program in the State of Nevada. Young musicians ages 8-22 can audition for and join the Academy Orchestra (string orchestra for students up to age 18), the YAO Symphony (advanced students up to age 22), and the newly created Percussion Ensemble (students up to age 22). Musicians accepted into the program will be on full-scholarship, perform regularly in our diverse concert season, take part in masterclasses, work alongside nationally & internationally recognized artists, participate in unique cultural musical projects, and have access to high quality instruments from our instrument bank.
