Welcome to the inaugural year of the Las Vegas Young Artists Orchestra. This orchestra was…
Dear YAO Family,
I’d like to update you on how the current pandemic has and will affect YAO for the remainder of the season. Since the governor asked that all schools close until April 6, we will be cancelling rehearsals until further notice. As some of you are aware, the Smith Center cancelled all events until March 31. Luckily, we were able to move The Music of Harry Potter to Saturday, May 16 at 7:30 PM. The YAO Faculty Showcase on April 19 and Vivaldi and Harrison on May 10 have all been cancelled. With that being said, please be aware that if the current situation does not stabilize, then there still is a likelihood that Harry Potter will also be cancelled. We will keep you informed, and hope for the best. Because of our tuition-free status we rely heavily on ticket sales and donations. We ask that patrons not ask the Smith Center for a refund and wait to see what happens.
Please note that the current situation will not affect auditions for the 2020/21 Season. Since 2019, we’ve offered the possibility of auditioning via video, and we will continue to offer that service until the end of May via our platform at https://app.getacceptd.com/lvyao. More information will be sent out in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, we thank you for being such great supporters of the YAO. We will get through this difficult time and look forward to once again enriching our community with the incredible talent, passion, and dedication from our young artists.
